| LORDS OF THE MANOR, UPPER SLAUGHTER The Lords is set amidst eight acres of lake and parkland, described by many as the loveliest in England. Walled gardens to the rear of the house provide an idyllic backdrop to the honey-coloured Cotswold stone of the rectory. The Lords of the Manor is an ideal location for exploring the Heart of England. For 200 years the Lords was the home of the Witts family, historically Rectors of the Parish. Here the Reverend F E Witts, the first Lord of the Manor, wrote his famous chronicle of the 18th Century "The Diary of a Cotswold Parson". It is from these origins that the hotel derives its unusual name.
The original part of the house dates from 1650, although numerous additions
have been made over the years, predominantly during the Victorian era.
The reception rooms have retained their warmth and convivial atmosphere, handsomely furnished with fine antiques.
At the heart of this country house lies the award-winning restaurant.
Local produce is skillfully prepared and presented to offer some of the finest
contemporary cuisine in the county.
Period furniture and traditional antiques adorn the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. Each room is individually designed and retains its own character. Many bedrooms overlook the old courtyard, where the village dining hall one stood. Others enjoy views from the front of the hotel, taking in the lake and parkland beyond.
Located in the village of Upper Slaughter, The Lords of the Manor combines
21st Century technology with 17th Century surroundings. Discreet service and
gourmet dining make it an exclusive location for board meetings, small
conferences and informal gatherings.
Lords of the Manor is fully licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies for up to 50 people and offer a choice of idyllic settings, the Garden room, which overlooks the beautiful walled garden or the conservatory flooded with sunlight and access to the courtyard.
