THE LYGON ARMS HOTEL, BROADWAY

the lygon arms The Great Hall Lygon Arms

At the centre of Broadway is The Lygon Arms, a traditional inn, rich in history and charm. More than this, The Inn is also an international-standard hotel with an enviable reputation for the finest cuisine and the best of 20th-century comforts. It has three acres of grounds which include lawns, flower gardens, croquet and floodlit tennis for the exclusive use of guests. The Lygon Arms also has its own spa and conference facilities.

Gazing into a huge and ancient log-burning open fireplace, you can easily drift back in time to a very different England. The Broadway parish register has the first reference to The Inn in 1532. In the 17th century, it served both sides of the Civil War - Oliver Cromwell stayed here before the decisive battle of Worcester in 1651 (Cromwell Room where Oliver Cromwell spent the night above left) and Charles I also used The Inn to meet his supporters.

The Inn has 77 rooms including 6 stunning suites, some dating back to 1532. Half of the bedrooms are situated in the original buildings, and half are located in the award-winning Garden and Orchard wings. Every room and suite at the Inn has its own distinct character, individually decorated and furnished in traditional country-house style, many with fine antiques, but combined with the technology of today.

The Lygon Arms also has four rooms in a beautiful thatched cottage situated in the Inn's beautiful walled garden - The Orchard Cottage fulfils everyone's dream of a romantic English cottage. We strongly recommend that you call The Lygon Arms to discuss your specific requirements and they will ensure that find the perfect room for you.

For a sense of sheer drama and occasion then look no further than the Great Hall, a stunning dining room and one which in its history has been decorated by almost every publication for its food, ambience and service. Here flawless attention to detail will ensure that every occasion is memorable. The room lives up to its name with an imposing barrel-vaulted ceiling, 17th century Minstrel's Gallery, and polished oak panelling. The hotel is proud to use only local produce, where possible and Head Chef Chris Lelliot, (formerly of the Waterside in Bray) is fortunate in that the property is close to some of the UK's top local suppliers.

A few steps across the courtyard Goblets Bistro offers a relaxing atmosphere serving traditional English cuisine with a contemporary twist, equally as imaginative and as fresh using ingredients that are grown and reared locally including a wide range of herbs and plums from the hotel's own orchards. Lounge in Gin Corner, the Tapestry Room or Drawing Room and enjoy some modern luxuries such as an expresso, smoked salmon blini or a glass of champagne.

Please note the following opening times for the Great Hall:
Lunch: Sunday to Friday: 12.30pm-2.00pm Dinner: Daily: 7.00pm - 9.30pm
The Terrace and Goblets opening time: Lunch: 12.30pm-2.00pm Dinner: 6.30pm-9.00pm
